“Oftentimes, movie review shows or podcasts take on too serious a tone - attempting to speak from the classic review perspective, they bloviate with overly self-serious prattling while missing out on the key piece of importance - reviews should be informative about the subject while giving the reader or observer a clear point of view. In other words, a lot of reviewers take themselves WAY too seriously to get their point across.
Not these guys. The three cast members of the Hero Movie Podcast do perform reviews of both current and classic superhero movies, but in the process they make sure that a) the review is enjoyable and fun while remaining informative, and b) the podcast is something you want to come back to week after week. With segments that go into such items as the character history of the movie, critical analysis of the movie itself (while not performing the sin of thinking the analysis is more important than the subject being analyzed), a rating system that appeals to the target demographic and the most important part of all - how the movie relates to one Sylvester Stallone.
The guys are funny, and their perspectives are well-informed while remaining enjoyable to take in. A definite recommended listen.”
