The Stranger I remember most
Every morning I would walk past an elderly homeless woman who had a child’s ever for the world she lived in. Every morning I bring her breakfast and every morning she would be across her park bench “asleep”. Every morning I would set breakfast down and pretend not to hear her giggles and step back as though continuing on to work. Every morning this incredible woman would then leap from her sleep with a “raaaaa” and allowed me the gift of starting each day in giggles and laughter with her. She was wiser than anyone I have ever met, living on a park bench in Brisbane, Australia with the mind of a child. This was my morning for weeks then one morning she was gone. 18 years ago and I still think of her often.
