My most memorable is an old man I met in Honduras when I was on a missions trips. He spoke broken English and had a yellow smile. But he warmed my heart. So I started up a conversation at the coffee shop I was at. We talked about his family and his love for nature. We talked about my up coming wedding and the key to marriage. I sat there for about 2 hours talking to this stranger. We shared stories and memories and hopes and dreams. At the end of the conversation, I had to leave. I had just turned my back and I felt his hand on my shoulder. I turned around to say goodbye again — but instead turned to see tears in his eyes. He said one last phrase to me and it will live with me for forever — “you impacted my life with love, now I’ll go and impact someone else”. He felt empowered to change the lives of his friends and family just by loving them where they are at (something I told him I try to do). He gave me a right hug and then left. I just know he is out there loving the crap out of people.”
