“I am a big fan of the idea of this podcast and a big fan of Rachel Lindsay. I respect her willingness to step up and use her fame to educate and bring forward important issues going on. I live in Minneapolis. The killing of George Floyd is awful and it’s very sad here. I agree with civil rights to protest and people have every right to do that. There have been some peaceful protests. However—in the face of a pandemic, people here gathered in large groups, many unmasked and looting and rioting took place. This is well beyond protesting. The looting included burning of an apartment complex that houses many people who are already struggling financially. Now, homeless. Food from stores was burned, stores where again, those who are having a hard time making ends meet shop. Please have the facts when making comments around this. While the killing of George Floyd is beyond words, the looting and rioting are not the answer and in fact harmed many of George’s neighbors and his community. Further it’s overshadowing George’s death. I’m really disappointed in how this was presented.”
