The strong versus the weak!
A great job HODINKEE team and esp Stephen P for a great first year. Well, a very good first year. The weak episodes make it a very good year as opposed to great. The strong were really strong and were marked out by the articulate guess such as Matt Jacobsen, Jean Claude Biver and George Glasgow. The weak episodes were thankfully few but they were not worthy of such a series. The Cara Barrett episode was the low point. When asked about special auction experiences the opportunity for useful and “insider” insights were squandered by her inability to articulate an answer. “like it was like crazy like...” was insulting to HODINKEE listeners. This is so unfortunate when you consider how few women guests have been on the show so far. Not blaming the guest - blaming the show for being less critical of guest choice. A lovely person and colleague isn’t necessarily an interesting interviewee. Anyway, for every one who thinks like I do someone else will think these episodes are refreshing and adding to the mix. Point being you will never please everybody so keep up the good work Team Hodinkee.

As a lover of watches and Hodinkee, I was disappointed to find that this is mostly just a lifestyle podcast offering up the inane and downright brainless aphorisms of the most privileged members of society. Podcast is about 60% Porsche talk. Shteyngart was the only relatable interview so far.

I credit Hodinkee's site as the reason I am as into watches as I am. I love everything these guys do! If you are a nerd who loves watches or wants to learn more - this is the place to do it! Keep up the great work!Read full review »
