White Males don’t have generational or interpersonal trauma. Really???
I’ve only listened to 1 episode #32 and I would have given it more stars but when you bash white men 3 times in the episode, to the point where you feel the need to qualify it and say you are “just joking...”you probably aren’t joking. The guest said “If there is no generational trauma and no interpersonal trauma that person is A) very lucky, B) PROBABILITY A WHITE MALE....just kidding” You both laughed and you added “Kind of kidding...but not” Later you added “We are not demonizing white males” “I don’t know if anyone including my husband who is a white male who doesn’t have trauma” We think it’s over....but it’s not... You then add while talking about this white male stereotype“I think some people have more(trauma) than others” Meaning that the people who have more trauma than others are the NON-White Males. At 52:23 in the podcast the guest was talking about her healing journey. She said when she was talking to a doctor about her anxiety she said “The doctor pulled the sexist card and said You are probably just working too hard.” In what universe is that sexist? He didn’t qualify that by her being a woman. He could have just as easily said that too any man. She just assumes that he only says that to women. And there was another time in the interview where she was talking about “the Patriarchy” in some generalized way. So you qualified your white male generalizations by mentioning that you are married to a white male. How gracious of you. I thought I was not allowed to say “I’m not racist because I have black friends?” Isn’t what you did the same thing? I wish we could all joke again. But if I said anything like what you said I would be crushed. And there can be some generalizations that can have some truth to them. And some things can just be jokes. One day when you can joke and generalize about me and I can joke and generalize about you we can all be friends again. Until then I’ll back off and you should too.
