The brief was to create a neighbourhood café within the New Direction retail precinct that would cater both to residents, and to the local Bellmere community. Shaynna designed the café to resemble a traditional Queensland coffee shop, but incorporated bespoke furniture design, a range of specialised functional fabrics and carefully selected patterns to accommodate the complex care needs of New Direction’s elderly residents and for those living with younger onset dementia.
