“Telling the story of Eliza was very important for people to hear. I am a Psychologist and have testified in court for termination of parental rights. I regularly observed parents with their children, evaluated the parents and children, and made recommendations based on the history and evaluations.
The podcast on Eliza seemed very unprofessional. I wanted to hear her story without the Story Teller crying throughout. It seems unprofessional. If you cannot tell a story without crying you should not tell it. The constant crying took away the reality of the Issues that need to be addressed. You never noted that the Social Workers carry 80+ cases in some situations (the push parental reunification was mentioned briefly).
Social Workers are not law enforcement. The SW can see what the parents and child present and children who are abused will often not admit it anyone out of fear from their parents or because they love the parents despite the abuse.
Please continue to tell important stories but don’t cry during the podcast, it seems unprofessional. Listen to Ashley and Brit from Crime Junkies, Southern Fried True Crime, Mom’s and Murder, Already Gone. All of these shows talk about horrible crimes but I have never heard anyone cry.
Thank you for the work you are doing, just please be professional in your story telling.
