He founded the monastery of St Herman of Alaska in Platina, California, where he was tonsured into monastic life would later publish a series of books which rendered accessible to modern youth the ancient wisdom and life experience of the Holy Fathers of Orthodoxy. A few weeks before his blessed repose (September 2, 1982) Fr Seraphim gave a homily on ‘Living the Orthodox Worldview’, in which he refers to the famous spiritual counsels of Fr Gheorghe Calciu, recounted in this recording, who was then imprisoned in Aiud.
