“Very disappointed in the one-sided reporting of left of center Israelis who protested the judicial reforms. A narrow narrative. Perhaps an entire episode should be devoted to the other half of Israeli citizens who see it quite differently. Judicial overreach by the Israeli Supreme Court to overturn the Knesset’s legislative acts without any guiding constitution, relying only upon the vagueness of the “Basic Law” and its “reasonable” standard. The proposed judicial reforms would strengthen, not weaken, Israel’s democratic system. Perhaps interview Carolyn Glick to provide balance on the background of a fractured society that rose to the occasion and united to fight for its survival against a greater threat: Hamas and Islamic Jihad. As a postscript, it is not helpful to paint Netanyahu as Trump’s alter ego. We Americans do a great disservice to Israel when we graft upon her the American political climate. We Americans would do well to have less hubris and more humility when it comes to dictating the terms for Israel’s survival in a hostile region.”
