“I’ve liked and admired both David Aldridge and JA Adande for many years.
But I was sickened to hear the dismissive and insulting way they discussed Kobe’s rape charges.
For them to say that we can’t know what happened, and so we have to play it down the middle, since Kobe was never convinced — that’s disingenuous at best. The percentage of false rape accusations is tiny. The physical evidence in this case was strong. You like the guy and don’t want to believe it — just say that and stop pretending objectivity.
To then say that the victim stopped cooperating with police because she was negotiating a settlement — that’s misleading at best, and seems deliberately revisionist. Her name was revealed multiple times, media printed it, she was receiving death threats from “fans,” Kobe’s lawyers smeared her nonstop. Her life was made miserable by Kobe, his legal team, and his supporters, on top of the trauma she already suffered.
David’s emotion in thinking of his child and Kobe’s was moving — I wish he could have the same empathy for Kobe’s victim.”
