Real and Honest
It’s a story we should share I’m over 8 years off booze ~ unfortunately I hit crisis point before I was hospitalised to detox and then stayed on for another month of inpatient rehab. I was lucky to have information sessions with some very switched on people including a forensic pharmacologist - one thing he said stuck with me. In your brain chemistry you develop receptors for whatever you consume, whether it be cigarettes. Drugs or Alcohol. It’s initially hard to give up any of these especially cold turkey. However one of the biggest differences is receptors for nicotine while very powerful and make it really tough to quit they will die off so if you resume smoking after a time you will be very sick initially (like we all were when we first tried) but; receptors in the brain for alcohol or opiates just go dormant. So, if you consume again the receptors fire up again and demand your consumption resume at previous levels to feel good! Hence why junkies and binge drinkers fall so far so easily... Will be tuning in for more episodes Highly recommended
