Description
Introduction Hello! Welcome to the first episode of the podcast How She Ate an Elephant. This podcast and blog are going to serve as a “diary of accountability” for myself as I navigate through my 20’s as a professional young, black woman a few years out of college. I find myself working to define my identify and career while simultaneously trying to maintain a healthy separation between the two. My idea for this podcast came out of my desire for personal growth and a realization that when I share my goals with others, I am more likely to hold myself to them. I’ve also noticed that when I talk about my adult growing pains with those around me that they often share my thoughts (and my confusion). Each week, I will discuss one of my identified areas of improvement and share my action-items for how I plan to incorporate those changes into my life. I’ve been thinking about this podcast for a while. It’s been over a year, to be honest. In that time, I have thought through my ideas for the theme and format of the first season but I would be lying if the reason for the delay wasn’t (in large part) because of Avoidance …which is why I am dedicating this first episode to it. By releasing this episode, I am allowing myself to move forward on a path of self-improvement and to let go of the pride that was preventing me from exposing myself to failure (and criticism). And just like that, progress overtakes perfection… Podcast Resources: Book of the week Who Moved My Cheese? by Ken Blanchard I borrowed the ebook version of this book from my public library app but I also came across this FREE pdf of the entire book. You’re welcome. I recommend reading the book first but below is a cartoon video of the plot summary.
