Had to unsubscribe
This podcast has been incredibly healing to me through a difficult breakup, but today I had to unsubscribe. When faced with vulnerable feedback from a listener (not me) about her use of dieting as a metaphor for her methods because it was triggering to those eating disorder recovery, Claire double-downed and then went on to talk about obesity as a serious problem in the U.S. and basically how she won’t change for anyone. She’s asking her listeners to change their minds, but she won’t change hers, or even be sensitive to the people that do value her other assets. I am in eating disorder recovery and I have tried to ignore her use of this metaphor because I value her advice about dating and self-empowerment but her most recent podcast came off as fatphobic and incredibly egotistical. Don’t ask people to take your input if you’re completely closed off to other’s input. I hope she looks at her self and questions her need to promote diet culture and the shrinking of our bodies to fit an ideal.
