#17 – Building Better Relationships, and No More Mr. Nice Guy with Dr. Robert Glover
Listen now
Description
Dr. Robert Glover is the author of one of the most influential self-help books of the past twenty years. If there ever was a book written for the 21st century man, it’s No More Mr. Nice Guy.  Along with David Deida’s The Way of the Superior Man, I find myself recommending Dr. Glover’s opus to my male clients and readers more than any other book. It’s that good. From Amazon: Dr. Robert Glover has dubbed the “Nice Guy Syndrome” trying too hard to please others while neglecting one’s own needs, thus causing unhappiness and resentfulness. It’s no wonder that unfulfilled Nice Guys lash out in frustration at their loved ones, claims Dr. Glover. He explains how they can stop seeking approval and start getting what they want in life, by presenting the information and tools to help them ensure their needs are met, to express their emotions, to have a satisfying sex life, to embrace their masculinity and form meaningful relationships with other men, and to live up to their creative potential. But as Dr. Glover notes, there were “nice women” long before there were “nice guys.” Thus, there’s also something for the modern woman in No More Mr. Nice Guy, and today’s podcast. I wanted to talk to Dr. Glover to go deeper into some of the ideas in his book, his thoughts on modern masculinity in the context of the #metoo movement, sex, relationships, jealousy, and much more. This was very much a conversation aimed at offering practical advice for any human in love. Dr. Glover is a wonderful conversationalist, and this was one of the most enlightening and fun interviews I’ve done for this podcast. I hope you enjoy.
