Star Trek: Mission New York Names Its Headliner. William Shatner is set to headline the CBS and ReedPop event that will bring the Trek con circuit back to its birthplace: New York City. The first Star Trek convention took place January 21-23, 1972, at the Statler Hotel, and, of course, it celebrated The Original Series. Now Captain Kirk himself will lead the return to NYC with Star Trek: Mission New York, scheduled for September 2-4 at the Javits Center in Manhattan.
