“I am a PhD economist who graduated from college shortly after the publication of Freakonomics, and let me tell you what an absolute chokehold that book had on me as an aspiring baby economist nearly 20 years ago. We did some light criticism of the book (and read a volley of papers about the abortion-crime link) but no terribly heavy critiques. I haven’t re-read this book since it came out and, uh, wow I don’t remember it being such trash!
Love to see a new venue for Michael Hobbes to be a methodology queen. Looking forward to more episodes.”
