Owning your accomplishments, following your dreams, and representation in the music industry with Yuna

Description
Yuna is an amazingly talented Malaysian pop superstar, with a newly released album entitled “Rouge,” featuring artists including Tyler the Creator, G-Eazy, and Jay Park. But, for those who aren’t familiar with Yuna, there are a couple of things that set the artist apart from the rest. Yuna doesn’t necessarily fit the typical Hollywood mold for what a young female singer "should" look like today. She’s a devout Muslim, has always wrapped her hair in a hijab and follows a conservative style of dress. Being a popstar has also in some ways been a second life for her—she spent her childhood and young adulthood focused on becoming a lawyer, and graduated with a Bachelor of Legal Studies degree in 2009 (with honors none the less)!! Though music was merely a hobby for Yuna back in the day, she turned it into an insanely successful—and inspiring—career. In 2016, she won a Billboard Best R&B Album award for her album “Chapters”, in 2017, she became the first Malaysian singer to be nominated for a BET Award—specifically, for the BET Centric Award for "Crush" ft. Usher—and in 2019, she received RIAA certification when her song "Crush" logged a gold-certified sales of 500,000 copies!
