A Profane Drain on the Brain
The content is good and I enjoy the discussion, but Mike’s a little over the top on the swear-ometer. Don’t get me wrong— I work in film, where there’s plenty of potty mouth. But people I respect most are the cast and crew members who can contain the cursing, and draw on a larger vocabulary to express themselves. Especially if that individual aspires to be a screenwriter. If words are your weapon, it seems a little weak to constantly insert F-bombs into every sentence. I toss screenplays in the trash when all the dialogue is profanity packed (unless it’s a movie about sailors), because it shows the writer can’t find a unique voice for each character. An occasional F Bomb can be powerful perhaps, but every other phrase? Not so much. Lately it seems this podcast celebrates expletives…In Love With The Profanity might be a better title. Mike, you might attract bigger sponsors if you cleaned it up to a PG-13. For now, I’m going to unsubscribe. Then, I may check back in later to see if I can listen when my kids are present.
