Inaccuracies
The Dixie Mafia originated in the East Tennessee/western Carolina Smokey Mountains, which is the moonshine capital of the world, not in Georgia. At its heyday and until it’s end, DM operated its headquarters in Biloxi, Mississippi. The attempted hit on sheriff Buford Pusser (walking tall) and actual murder of his wife in Selmer, Tennessee was carried out by the Dixie Mafia. This guy and it’s operation in Georgia was a small faction of the overall Dixie Mafia syndicate, which is why no one has ever heard of it.

I know the Dixie Mafia was bigger than just Ga but billy was the big dog in Ga. I live in Monroe just south of Winder and these stories are fascinating!
