“I only found InnerFrench a week ago, and have already listened to more than a dozen episodes of the podcast and YouTube. I used to be an advanced speaker but after almost 10 years I have gotten a bit rusty - listening to these episodes while I do my errands or chores has really helped reinvigorate my French learning and has lit up that part of my brain again.
While it may be geared more towards intermediate speakers and I did find they speak a little slow for my taste, I find if I speed up the audio or video a little then it still presents enough of a challenge while still having the option to play it back at regular speed if there’s a new concept or vocab. The fact that the team take so much care in speaking slowly and clearly makes this possible, where listening to regular French channels in the same way is not possible and always sounds warped at reduced speed. I usually come away from each episode with at least one or two new phrases or words of vocab, whereas listening to full French News reports I still miss a little too much to benefit.
It’s also great to have a team covering such a great range of topics including important political concepts with a reasonable and modern view, where sometimes it’s hard to find other radio sources without stumbling into a lot of bigoted and racist content. I for one appreciate the care and balanced approach of the team, and am glad to have these podcasts as part of my daily routine now.
I’d highly recommend this podcast for any advanced or “fluent” speakers who have been out of practice and want to brush up, and I can imagine this is extremely valuable for new and intermediate learners who are extending their vocabulary.
Merci InnerFrench!”
