Getting into a “French mindset”
I found this podcast as I was beginning a conversational French class. I would use this as a “warm up” before class started. The clarity Hugo provides through his word choice, rhythm, and structure is a fantastic way to get into a “French mindset” linguistically. I gave 4 stars since, as a language learning podcast, I do not feel that it has accelerated me from an intermediate conversational level, but it has reinforced my confidence in holding a conversation in French. Also, the topics are varied from episode to episode which is wonderful, however I feel that Hugo’s politically-left views and opinions are too often bias presented as fact. To me, the comprehension of language is more important than a political argument, but I could see how this could turn off some listeners.

Love these podcasts. He speaks slowly and clearly and the subjects are interesting - which is his goal. My children attend french school and they have already surpassed me so I am trying to improve my own french and these podcasts definitely help with comprehension.

New phrases and vocabulary are built in and well explained (in French). If you listen to these podcasts two or three times...Read full review »
