Noticeable Apologies based on identity politics
I couldn’t help but notice that there was definitely overtones of making apologies for Juana and her behavior. This is generally a theme on Crime Junkie where identity politics plays into in how the murderer in question is covered. Ashley will say that circumstances never excuse behavior, but everything said leadung up to that statement implies otherwise. Nearly every serial killer had a horrible childhood and endured unforgivable circumstances when they were most vulnerable. I know there’s a lot of pressure in American society to be a “good” woke person but let’s not apologize for any person who commits crimes against others, regardless of their sex, race or socioeconomic status, etc.
