“I normally LOVE Sam, especially for his critical perspective on “sensitive” or “taboo” issues. However, his comment about Gwyneth Paltrow and how she seems like she would be really cool and he could absolutely see himself getting a drink with her really rubbed me the wrong way. As a woman with a medical career, I find what Gwyneth Paltrow does to be, at best, peddling snake oil and, and worst, reckless endangerment. Either way, it’s exploitative and horrible and I hate to think of anyone I respect wanting to sit down with someone like that. I wonder if, she wasn’t a celebrity, Sam would have the same reverence. Regardless, it might have been a throwaway comment to him, but it really stuck with me. I wonder if others feel the same way and that, in the future, Sam can turn his same critical eye towards people who use their “pseudo-science” to manipulate and exploit women and discredit the scientific community.. regardless of their celebrity status.”

“We’re only two episodes in but Lena Waithe! It’s casual, fast-paced listening. Like Fresh Air but Sam talks faster, code switches effortlessly, and the NPR friends have shrugged off their on-air formality. I followed him over from NPR Politics, and both are on my must-listen-to-every-episode list.”
