“Yet again, Chris Lilley refuses to evolve his comedy. This podcast, much like the series which preceded it, is nothing more than a
mess of gratuitous dick jokes and racially charged “humour”, which makes listening a dull experience.
The character of Ja’mie is just not funny anymore. Offensive does not equal funny- something which Lilley needs to come to grips with if he wants to have a place amongst modern comedians. The stereotype of a 2004 teenager is not relevant in 2021, and Ja’mie making crude homophobic/racist remarks for no other reason than shock value is proof of Lilley’s desperate need to compensate for character development.
Ja’mie was funny a decade ago because she was a stereotype everyone had encountered. As were Mr G and Jonah. This is just a washed up comedian’s attempt to use shock value as replacement for a legitimate narrative and as the reviews for Lilley’s last 2 shows proved- it doesn’t work.”
