Description
MYSTIC BREW Duke Ellington was quoted as saying late in his career he was concerned that the term Jazz, was no longer adequate to describe all the manifestations of the music. Too many elements were being added and fused into what was being called Jazz, so much so, to the extent that the term was becoming too small to define what in reality we were hearing. Miles Davis also expressed a similar sentiment saying on many occasions that there was in fact, no such thing as Jazz anymore. Jazz as a category of music is very broad and very flexible. Jazz music has the unique adaptability to be what it needs to be for the person creating it and for the masses enjoying it. Jazz is art in its highest form. I call it a gumbo or a MYSTIC BREW of good sounds and styles. This week I am serving up yet another heaping helping of this brew just for you! Enjoy!!
