Chatting with Buttermilk Pie Company Owner, Amanda Wilbanks
Listen now
Description
From her earliest years Amanda Wilbanks was surrounded by fine Southern cooks.  Working in the kitchen alongside her mother and grandmother, she had her hands in everything.  From mixing fruits cakes by hand at Christmas to making the buttermilk biscuits and gravy after church on Sundays, she desired to put her personal stamp on every dish she created.  After marrying, she learned from her mother-in-law how to make French pastry dough, and she fell deeply in love with the art of pie making.  She made her first pie at home in Gainesville, Georgia, using the highest quality local ingredients. From the perfectly pinch pleated crusts to the meticulously prepared fillings, Amanda gave attention to every detail. Encouraged by her husband to sell her pies at a local festival in 2012, Amanda took the leap of faith to start what is now the Buttermilk Pie Co. She continues to celebrate life with pie each day and encourages those around her to join in her happiness by enjoying delicious pies and sharing them with others.
