Good Content, Poorly Produced
This podcast could be fabulous — the topic is compelling and timely, they have fantastic source materials and interviews. But the production is amateurish and awful, it’s almost unlistenable. A couple examples: a) interviews and oral histories are broken up into soundbytes that feel like sentence fragments punctuated by rapid-fire bits of narration. It’s frenetic and scattered, with the sources never given time to breath or the audience to hear a thought or point of view properly developed; b) there is this appallingly inane and repetitive background music that plays through out each episode. Rather than serving as a quick transition device, it just keeps looping along under everything, like some very bad 70s porno soundtrack. Very, very disappointing.

Too many ad interruptions, irritating musical accompaniment, many lose ends in the narrative, and shallow. They could have done so much more with the storyline by focusing more deeply rather than just skating over a large surface. Here’s hoping they try again with a different approach.
