“I’ve been listening to The Campfire for years and am a huge fan of Jim and what he’s trying to accomplish. I love him so much that I am a paying member of his Plus Club. But it is only going way back into the archives these days that I can find any decent stories. I certainly don’t listen for the current stories. These days I go months without listening, and when I return to the present submissions, I have to pick through the multitude of stories about Ouija boards, dolls coming to life, floating ghosts in sheets, or people recounting things that happened to them when they were six and seven years old. Some of the stories are quite chilling and more plausible, but I find that as time goes on, I struggle to find stories with any semblance of reality. Case in point: a man talking to people walking out of a mirror and a lava lamp resembling a demon. In other words, the quality of the stories has really gone downhill over the years. I wish Jim would filter the stories and then ask pressing follow-up questions to separate truth from outlandish storytelling. It seems that his callers now are just trying to come up with the tallest tales to out-do one another. I still recommend the podcast, but only if you join plus club to take advantage of earlier content.”
