“I absolutely love John Simpson, adore his books, and have turned to him to interpret global affairs for decades. As a result I had great expectations and anticipation for this podcast. Unfortunately, the format doesn’t allow John to shine. This feels like a meandering conversation you might over hear in a bar rather than the insights of one of the world’s great journalists. It’s a sharp contrast to Jeremy Bowen’s effort about the Middle East, which is truly extraordinary and really provides a showcase for his expertise.”
