“It is really frustrating that the narrator and the other white people who made this podcast did not try to learn to say basic Hindi/Urdu words properly. For example, how hard is it to say begum (pronounced bay-gum not beg-gum)?
The minimal effort in pronunciation of Hindi/Urdu words is extremely distracting though, and if your team is going to be making podcasts about brown people, you need to do the work required to be culturally sensitive. If this was a podcast using French words I’m sure the narrator would pronounce them all perfectly. Brown cultures deserve the same respect.
With that said, it’s an interesting story and I’m excited to continue to listen. And I do thank you for making a story about a minority culture.”
