“I’ve listened to this cast for awhile because I’ve mostly enjoyed the stories. This is DESPITE the fact that the narrator reads them with the flattest, emotionless tone ever. This is no exaggeration, he delivers them in a tone reminiscent of a very bored Ben Stein in “Ferris Buler’s Day Off”, and it definitely kills any sort of suspense or mood. That said, the stories have mostly been decent. THAT HAS NOW CHANGED
I recently listened to the undersea horrors episode that just dropped, and despite the usual monotone narration the first few stories were actually pretty good (the impaled sailboat story being particularly effective), until it got to the LAST STORY. That’s when I cringed, hard…
It was VERY OBVIOUSLY WRITTEN BY A.I.. Chat GPT if I had to guess. It was obvious within a paragraph or two. Overly generic descriptions of everything, in that very characteristic, bland, A.I. style we’ve come to instantly recognize. It didn’t even read like a story, it read like an extremely generic synopsis of a story, in the way that A.I. tends to write. Things like “the heroic character gathered the remaining crew mates together by appealing to their sense of fellowship, and descended into the bowels of the ship where the hero confronted the” (unnamed) “terror and did battle with it. Costing the lives of many of the crew, but ultimately overcoming it with their knowledge of the being supernatural weaknesses, and in the end triumphed, but at a cost”
Yeah, that’s literally how the entire story flowed. Tedious, boring, and pointless. Extremely hard to listen to and extremely disappointing.if this trend continues I’m finished with this podcast. STOP USING CHAT GPT TO WROTE STORIES AND PASS THEM OFF AS BEING WRITTEN BY “ANONYMOUS”
It’s disingenuous, lazy, and frankly uninteresting. You can do better”
