Justin Bieber was born in Stratford, Ontario, Canada, on March 1, 1994. He started singing at a young age, and his mother, Pattie Mallette, would often post videos of him performing on YouTube. In 2007, one of these videos caught the attention of talent manager Scooter Braun. Braun flew Justin and Pattie to Atlanta, Georgia, to meet with Usher, who was immediately impressed by the young talent. Justin Bieber: I remember being so nervous when I first met Usher. He was one of my biggest idols, and I couldn't believe that he was actually interested in working with me. Usher and his manager, L.A. Reid, signed Justin to their record label, Raymond Braun Media Group. In 2009, Justin released his debut EP, My World, which featured the hit singles "One Time" and "One Less Lonely Girl." The EP was a huge success, selling over 137,000 copies in its first week. In November 2009, Justin released his debut album, My World 2.0. The album was even more successful than his EP, selling over 371,000 copies in its first week and debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 chart. The album featured the hit singles "Baby," "Eenie Meenie," and "Somebody to Love." "Baby" was a global phenomenon, becoming the fastest-selling digital single in history. It also reached number one in over 20 countries. The song's music video, which features Justin Bieber's then-girlfriend, Ludacris, has over 2.9 billion views on YouTube. Justin Bieber: "Baby" was a crazy time. I went from being a relatively unknown kid to being one of the biggest pop stars in the world. It was all happening so fast, and it was a bit overwhelming. His rise to teen stardom was meteoric. He was featured on magazine covers, interviewed on talk shows, and performed at sold-out concerts around the world. He also won numerous awards, including the American Music Award for New Artist of the Year and the Grammy Award for Best New Artist. Justin Bieber's breakthrough was truly remarkable.
