Spends several episodes talking about a conspiracy and never presenting evidence of one. Seems like a tragic accident.

This is a great podcast!

What a rip off. As someone who lives near where this is all taking place, I am down the rabbit hole of this case and was excited to listen To the series but I’m not paying for every episode. Ridiculous

I echo other reviewers. The podcast is great and I LOVE not having to listen to ads so I am happy to pay for the content. Please don't negatively review the content because you don't like structure, particularly when it's made clear.Read full review »

I really enjoyed this show. Definitely worth the subscription and they have a lot of other great shows you can listen to as well. Great story telling!

This podcast gives me mixed feelings. I felt really intrigued by the story, but I would argue that probably 10-15% of all episodes is dedicated to the prosecutions side of things, and that was disappointing… The whole show is only hearing the defense for Karen, and I feel it would’ve been more...Read full review »

I enjoyed this up to the last episode. All the courtroom discourse ruined it for me. It just went on and on and on and on and on.

OK! You can’t afford the plus subscription and that makes you mad — WE CAN! And think it’s fair! So stop ****ing review bombing every single podcast with a paywall cause those of us who realize podcast companies do need to find ways to make money want to know the quality of the SHOW! You need to subscribe to listen. I subscribed and immediately unsubscribed after a day when I couldn’t find anything else exciting on wondery + to listen to unfortunately.

Cannot listen because of paywall. Why not offer episodes with ads like everyone else or post your episode on Patreon only.

Ok
This tells the story mostly from Karen’s/her lawyer’s POV, but not much from the prosecution’s. I understand why they did that - the defense is the whole reason this case is famous, and the controversy is what is driving clicks. And on one hand, it’s refreshing to see the defense’s take, because...Read full review »

jesssxy via Apple Podcasts · Canada · 09/09/24
First, I don’t understand all the low ratings. Seems sus. Second, this is a master class on defense and creating reasonable doubt. Third, it strikes me that there was an opportunity to check for canine dna in the lacerations. The human dna seems less likely to prove anything criminal than it...Read full review »

The glee that the presenter had in demonstrating the prosecution’s errors and shortcomings was palpable. Ms. Read should be obligated to pay Wondery as part of her PR team. I hope the jury got it right with their decision.

Some of the other comments I saw about this being biased confuse me. Biased or not Proctor the LEAD INVESTIGATOR claiming that his “juvenile” comments did not affect the integrity of the case????? Discussing the case with family and friends in such an unprofessional way doesn’t affect the...Read full review »

Paywall after one episode for a generic true crime wanna be podcast. No thanks
SNN1577 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 09/02/24
They put clip highlights at the beginning of the pod then replay them over and over so you never know which is the “real” broadcast. Working through the story but it could have been done in 3 or 4 pods.
BigPeteNY via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 09/01/24
As other reviewers have noted, this podcast feels one-sided. But for anyone who’s done even a modicum of research into this case (e.g. just watched the trial), it’s so much worse than that. The host often says things as though they are obvious, when the clips played to support the assertions...Read full review »

Should’ve guessed since the podcast is named Karen the story would be titled in her favor, but it’s almost comically biased. As a previous rater noted, it misinterprets events and only gives credence to defense strategies. During voir dire for the second trial, potential jurors should be asked if...Read full review »

I’m only one episode in and this story is pretty new to me but this podcast has very clearly picked a side. Kinda takes away from the experience.

They put out one episode for the public and make you subscribe to keep listening. I’ve subscribed before and in my opinion it’s not worth this podcast nor is it worth the rest of the shows they have to offer. Shame on them.

Sorry. Nope. This whole charging-for-podcasts thing is ridiculous. Releasing one and then putting the rest behind a paywall? Gimme a break.

I liked the presentation of the sound bytes and multiple perspectives. I don’t think that they approached it in a biased way and introduced people from both sides that poke major holes into the investigation and also into Karen. This is the third podcast I’ve listened to cover it and they left...Read full review »

Jumps to conclusions, leaves out some key details that the public is aware of. Also, the host routinely pronounces words incorrectly and it really bugs me that their producers didn’t catch it!

Living across the country I had no clue about this case. Do I feel a bias is being expressed? Absolutely, anyone that listens to any podcast should be able to pick up on that quickly. I love love love true crime podcasts. I don't expect them to be big media productions or to have music or other shenanigans. However, this podcast was thrown together. I have never heard of this case until now, but I will have to seek information about it elsewhere. This is so biased and poorly written, I can’t believe it. Random “onlookers” are not credible sources, guys. Transparently terrible.

I don’t have a dog in this fight and I’m not necessarily team free Karen Read, but this is leaving out so many details— I can’t believe it.
