“UPDATE 10/18/19: Kara has been gone from Keep It for a while now and the show has been slightly less enjoyable for me. I miss her being the “straight man” of the 3 who will call out BS, especially if it’s laced with misogynoir. This is nitpicking but you’d think as the host of a podcast and a writer, Ira would pronounce things correctly, or at least have a cheat sheet for himself. His most recent one “EYE-tirations” (instead of IH-tirations) was…a choice. At least get the names of prominent figures in today’s pop culture right! You’re a pop culture podcast!
I mostly skip the guest interviews. They interrupt the flow of the episode and I just don’t care. A guest interview every now and then is cool, but I’d appreciate more episodes of just straight pop culture discussion because some moments do require lengthy discussion with nuance. Interested to see how Keep It progresses in the coming years…

I follow Ira on Twitter and was a fan of Kara when she wrote for Jezebel. I’ve been looking a for a new general pop culture podcast that has more focus than, say, The Read, but is lighter than NPR’s Pop Culture Happy Hour. Keep It is the perfect match. The hosts have good chemistry and don’t linger too long on topics. Louis’s quick wit is honestly the highlight of each episode for me. I’m a (mostly) happy Keep It subscriber and I look forward to a new episode each week. HOWEVER, one of three things need to happen: 1) get Ira a better mic; 2) turn the volume up on Ira’s mic; or 3) Ira stops dropping the end of his sentences or whatever it is that he’s doing that causes him to become nearly inaudible, resulting in my turning up the volume to hear him only to have my speakers/ear drums almost blown when Kara or Louis speak again. Perhaps all three?”
