“So smart and innovative. Lots of their questions are really incisive.
But then there are moments of — idk. Hyper creativity?? Sometimes Amanda takes on this overly dramatic(/trying too hard maybe?) tone of The Podcaster, full of vibrato and rich tones.
And they get gimmicky. I had to stop listening to the LaVar Burton ep first of all because she kept interrupting the interview to talk about how she loves his voice ??? Yes, we KNOW about mr. Burton’s voice; you are not the first person to notice.
But more importantly, because they created this whole conceit into which they plugged in his answers. It came off like they were minimizing the importance/ reality of what he was talking about: in this case, unequal treatment of black people by police. Or maybe they put it in there because they thought we weren’t interested in what Mr. Burton had to say, and they had to make it more interesting?
The podcast is excellent outside of all the cringe, though. I’ll probably keep listening. Maybe they’re just very young.”
