“I am early in my progress (not quite 20 episodes) but this is a remarkable program. Kudos especially to Timothy and his team’s willingness to make these lessons free. This program is obviously based upon a deep understanding of language learning and Spanish in particular. Uses a word frequency and foundational concept approach with clear explanations (including the reasoning behind the method/s). Truly far superior to simply learning canned scenarios with lists of words, greetings, numbers, random words of the day, etc. Uses the most frequent, connecting/linking words that are often almost invisible to native speakers with attention to how the words, concepts, verb structure and foundations of speech fundamentally differ in Spanish from English. Early attention to pronunciation, and listening to Spanish including native speakers. Particularly like the use of ‘memory palace’ techniques to build rapid associations and recall. Also like the early approach to practice speaking with ‘Spanglish’ sentences where the learner can use either the most basic word, phrase, or rearrangement of words even in English or may use more Spanish depending upon their background vocab. Rapid development of words to develop basic comprehension and the ability to ask questions, follow speech, and then use the language to build further understanding. “Bite sized” concept focussed lessons which allow busy learners to review a single lesson daily or chunk several lessons at a time. Fantastic approach.
My HS Spanish was the ‘canned spam’ approach to language (45 years ago). Decided Russian would be interesting in college. Not a language major, but was fairly fluent at the time with 3 years of Russian including summer immersion at IU Bloomington. This Spanish program is the next best thing to immersion, and with the luxury of immersion would be even more phenomenal. Wish I could go back in time and use this for HS or college Spanish!”
