“The podcasts are enjoyable at the beginning - a story of athletics, coaching, and the social and political environment at the time. Sadly several episodes in it deteriorated into one-sided narratives about race and politics. As a POC, I’d enjoy it if it dug deep into the complex and debatable issues of the role of politics and social issues in sport, the complicated situation and potential approaches to it at the time, the many possible opposing viewpoints on all of these issues… but instead it presents a one-sided and simplistic narrative of: fight the racist man….
Though I haven’t heard his work before, I had the impression that Malcom Gladwell was an intelligent man, but he comes across here as simple-minded man pushing easy narratives….”
