“The subject matter is interesting but each series is seriously marred by the host’s voice and enunciation. I’ve listened to 3 series but almost bouncing off the walls because I found him so irritating; now I’m going to give my ears a break & reboot some sanity before I try again. Pity, because the stories are quite good and certainly of interest. No original journalism, of course, which seems to be almost always the case with Wondery which just synopsises some book on a particular subject. Nothing wrong with that in itself but you’d think the company would then at least pay its listeners the respect of NOT hiring a narrator who sounds like a screeching banshee. Also, his attempts at dialogue are laughable as he can only do one voice. He, or his employers, ought to listen to some of the many really great narrators to be found on Audible, whether American or British, and learn how it’s done!”
