Great podcast! … with some caveats
My first reaction to the trailer of this podcast was “I don’t need to hear about the Teen Dance Ordinance, I lived it.” But I actually learned a lot about Seattle music history before the ‘90s in the first two episodes. I arrived at UW as an undergrad in 1990 and the episode about the early ‘90s is a bit overblown. There was actually a vibrant all ages music scene in Seattle in the ‘90s at the OK Hotel, the Oz, the Weathered Wall, and other venues. Not every show was all ages, but many bands insisted on playing all ages shows and created the same kind of DIY scene that is attributed to Redmond in this podcast, but actually started in Olympia and Seattle. I saw Northwest bands like Hammerbox, the Dharma Bums, Green Apple Quickstep, the Screaming Trees, the Posies, the Young Fresh Fellows, etc. in Seattle - all when I was under the age of 21. There were shows at the UW HUB and Peace Concerts with local bands at several public parks in Seattle (Volunteer Park, Gas Works Park). It was a great scene and most of the music was not grunge.

Learned so much! Great history on Punk Rock and Hip Hop. I was an East Coast punk kid in the late 80s

Amazing history and great timing with our current Seattle issues. Laughed and surprised to learn this was as real as it was. Brilliant delivery and history. I am thankful this was put together.
