Dieter has earned a Master's degree in Computer Science with a focus on computer security and a minor in Business Administration as well as a PhD in computer security. He started his professional career at IBM Research Zurich where he was working with Jan Camenisch on systems aspects of the Identity Mixer anonymous credential systems, his PhD topic. He started his 11 years stay at IBM Research as a Predoctoral Researcher and moved on to the positions of Research Staff Member and Advisory Project Manager, leading a large international R&D program. He later became Technical Project Manager in a large international R&D project. Besides his project and program management activities he was involved in engineering and architecture and has filed multiple patents, mostly in the area of computer security. Before joining DFINITY, he was the Security Architect of Raiffeisen Schweiz, the third-largest Swiss bank, with broad company-wide responsibilities in the area of IT security.
