Description
Adriana Galijasevic is a designer, action researcher, innovator, educator and an advocate for circular economy in the fashion industry based on the Cradle to Cradle design principles. Before starting as an independent consultant, she spent the last decade working with G-Star RAW in an interdepartmental expert role. Here, she collaborated with design, merchandising and with the sustainability team to drive and implement sustainable material targets and circular economy innovations within G-Star RAW’s collections. To accomplish this, Adriana focused on leading the sustainability research, circular product innovation as well as internal and external education. Her pioneering work for the brand has received a global recognition and has been featured by Forbes, United Nations, London Design Museum and Victoria and Albert Museum. In 2019, she was selected for Rivets Influential 50, an index of the most creative and forward- thinking leaders driving the global jeanswear industry.  Adriana graduated from Drexel University in 2002 with a major in Fashion Design and a minor in Art History. In 2007, she moved from NYC to Amsterdam to further specialize in 17th century Dutch Art at the University of Amsterdam. Prior to G-Star, she worked as a Head Denim Designer in NYC for celebrity brands, Tina & Beyonce Knowles’ House of Deréon, Eve Jihan Jeffers’ Fetish, and Jay-Z’s Rocawear. Her love for denim prompted her to start up a Denim Institute in 2008. In collaboration with other denim enthusiasts and educational organizations, the institute’s mission was to research the past, confront the present, and open doors to future innovations in sustainable denim design and production. Adriana is one of the SDG Catalysts at Circular Fashion Summit by lablaco.
