Money, Power and Respect: The Fight For A Seat At The Media Table
Listen now
Description
Media giant Byron Allen is making a lot of noise right now. He's gone on the offensive has he has filed a multi-billion dollar lawsuit against Comcast. Thats not whats causing the loudest chatter however. In addition to media bohemoth, Comcast, he has also included The Rev. Al Sharpton, the NAACP and the Urban League in the suit as well. His claim, is that instead of these organizations providing advocacy on this matter of ownership in media by 100% black owned companies, they are actually providing "racial cover" for the major media companies to marginalize the black community.  Now I'm not big on name calling. During some of his interviews, Byron Allen has referred to Al Sharpton, as the "cheapest negro", and said he was bought and paid for with a "chicken dinner".  Now many have been outraged by those quotes, as we should be. And that's exactly what Allen wants. The attention. This lawsut is as much about blowing a dog whistle, as it is based in Allen making a ton of money. Join us this week on #LFCRadio as we dig deep into this topic. Our guest will be Dr. Crystal DeGregory.
