Description
This episode contains discussions about mental illness and suicide. Please listen with care, and if you’re struggling call Lifeline on 13 11 14. Despite her bubbly personality, Tayla Clement can’t smile. She was born with an incredibly rare condition called Moebius syndrome, that gave her facial paralysis and club feet. Tayla has overcome severe bullying and depression to achieve amazing things, including becoming world number 1 in her classification for shot-put. She tells Dylan and Angus why she describes her disability as ‘free botox’, why she decided to walk away from sport, and how she developed the confidence to show off her version of a smile every day on her popular Instagram account.  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
