Tongass Forest Management Plan Update and Community Events in Juneau
Listen now
Description
The USDA Forest Service has announced its first revision in over two decades to the forest plan guiding land management in the Tongass National Forest. We'll discuss the implications of these changes for both conservation efforts and local industries. On a community note, we cover the opening day of the Gastineau Channel Little League at Adair-Kennedy Baseball Field, which launched its season with 435 players across 38 teams. Additionally, we highlight the City and Borough of Juneau Parks & Recreation's collaboration with the Juneau Education Association and Juneau Public Libraries for the StoryPath initiative. This project, taking place over three weeks in May, features installations of books by Alaskan writers and illustrators along the Overstreet Park Seawalk. Join us for a factual rundown on the latest in environmental policy and community engagement in Juneau.
