Houston's Framber Valdez became the latest starting pitcher to dominate the Marlins, and the Astros surging offense pounded out 13 hits- scoring in every inning but two- to win game two of this three-game series 9-1 in Houston. Valdez, (8-5) went seven innings, allowing just one run on six hits, striking out a season-high ten and walking just one. The Astros helped him out a lot, turning three double plays. Yainer Diaz went 3-4 with three RBI's to lead the Astros attack. Joey Loperfido- Houston's #9 hitter- homered and tripled, driving in two runs. Jake Myers added an RBI double and a run scored, and Alex Bregman went 2-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. The Astros, who have won eight games in a row at home, are 36-20 overall since opening the season 12-24, their worst start in ten years. Xavier Edwards had two hits for the Marlins, including an RBI single that scored Emmanuel Rivera with Miami's only run. Declan Cronin had a bad outing for Miami, giving up four earned runs in 2 1/3 innings. The Astros tore up Marlins starter Bryan Hoeing, allowing five runs (four earned) on eight hits in just three innings. The two teams wrap up their three-game series tomorrow, with Roddery Munoz (1-3, 5.48 ERA) on the mound for the Marlins. The Astros haven't listed a starter yet.
