“I’ve been a Chelsea fan since 2004 and have become a hardcore Blues supporter, rarely missing a match over the past 5 years.
My journey began in 2004, during Jose’s first run, when I was working for a sales VP at Apple from west London who was a lifelong Chelsea supporter. It was well known that Barry would step out of the office during the week to watch games at a local pub in Cupertino. I would sometimes bounce over to watch the first half of a UCL or Cup tie. If Chelsea were playing well, Barry would be in a good mood and it was a good time to ask for inputs or a decision. If they were playing poorly, I would simply say I hope they pick it up in the second half and that I had things to get to and duck out. A bit mercenary I admit, but it was fun and the enthusiasm and the appreciation of the game took root.
Fast forward a few years and Fox and then NBC started broadcasting the league games and I became hooked. The EPL and Chelsea have become my go-to sport, eclipsing NHL and college football. For the past few years, I’ve only missed a handful of matches across all competitions.
But as much as I have enjoyed the journey, I have long felt like I was on an island. I know a few fans of the Spurs, Gunners, and Liverpool, and it’s fun to talk football and razz each other occasionally. But it’s not the same as feeling connected to the team and the larger community of Chelsea supporters.
So that is where the London is Blue podcast and Dan, Nick, and Brandon have filled a large void and have added a whole new dimension and a lot of enjoyment to being a US based Chelsea fan.
Bravo and thanks!”
