Listen now
Description
My old friend Philip Glass is a veteran of 20 African Safaris on top of many other international hunting adventures. On this episode we discuss anything and everything related to planning and executing a successful overseas hunt. Philip is a West Texas sheep rancher who actually brought the Dorper Sheep back to Texas after coming across them on an African safari back in the mid 1990s. He has a deep connection with the dark continent and has taken the Big 5 during his hunting career. We take advantage of his expertise, knowledge and tips he’s picked up over 25 plus years traveling the globe to hunt. Highlights Include: * Our upcoming Safaris (Philip to Zimbabwe and myself to South Africa) * What do you want to hunt and where? * Vetting an outfitter * Should you use a travel agent? * Do you want to take your own rifle where possible? * How to legally import your rifle * Best way to travel with a firearm (legally and most protective of the gun itself during transit) * What’s in your carry-on? * Locks * Business class or not? * What airline should you fly and what route should you take? * What about your ammunition? * What specific hunt was Philip’s all time favorite? * Where does the meat go? * Getting your trophy home * How much should you budget? * Miscellaneous costs
