Worth listening to
I’m glad Mr. Budnick, a real fan’s fan is the guy behind this show. I listened to the first three episodes almost in a row and am eagerly awaiting the remainder. Even so, I wish the show was presented with a little bit more of a critical eye, and incorporated more about the music itself. Interview questions never seem to get past the level of prompts to talk about how awesome the guest or festival is/was, and so far there’s been very little discussion of the organization going from outside the industry under Paluska, to much more integrated. And while the band was praised for presenting minimally commercial festivals and concerts, there was equal praise given to the post-hiatus, commerce driven mega fests just because the organizers also dug phish and borrowed ideas, it seemed. I’ve loved phish for over 25 years, and like any relationship that lasts that long it gets complicated. I have to believe Budnick’s experience is similar, and I wish the podcast reflected that, rather than just gushing about how great they are, even if the gushing is enjoyable to hear.

As a Phish fan since 1990 who has lost touch with the band for the past 20 years or so, this has been a great trip down memory lane and a harsh education in what I have missed.
