The Lantern Festival, also known as the Yuan Xiao Festival, falls on the 15th day of the first month in the lunar calendar. It celebrates the first full moon of a new year. On this day, people usually eat glutinous sweet rice balls (yuan xiao), make lanterns with riddles on them, and guess the answers to the riddles. The whole family will get together and enjoy some fun activities outside. But why is the Lantern Festival also known as the Yuan Xiao festival? Who is Yuan Xiao?
